‘economic rights’ are owned by the controversial sports investment
management company Doyen Sports.

Portuguese club blocked United’s bid so the player has since handed in a
transfer request and remains in dispute with the club while Sporting
and Doyen are now involved in a legal battle.
Sporting

because their arrangement with the club was struck under a previous
administration.
